Eden Reyes is, to put it bluntly, an ecoterrorist. The world is in a better state than it is in our timeline in terms of infrastructure and politics, but there is still much left to be desired on the environmental front. Eden Reyes grew up on the internet and ended up wrapped up in an ecoterrorist group as young as 12. She had actually borne a different name before her involvement with the group, changing it to Eden afterwards. Her violence started out small with spraypainting major businesses and forming a gang of bullies to beat up classmates whose parents were involved in certain businesses, but it was always shallow and misguided. The parents of these kids often weren't the ones making decisions in their companies, merely lowly roles such as delivery drivers or customer service. The spraypaint on the side of the buildings never reached anyone higher than the building manager. As Eden grew older, however, she took increasingly extreme measures and gained increasingly more devoted helpers. Eventually she took an office building hostage and killed several oil executives including the CEO of FuelForward, the most major name in the oil industry. Eden was arrested for her crime and executed via hanging per her own request. Her death sparked a fire in the revolutionary group she had been in and made major news. This all occurs after the story starts, meaning Seth hears about her death when it happens.
Eden hadn't had the opportunity to reveal the ace up her sleeve before her arrest and execution. She had actually built a bomb and hidden it in the building, and intended to activate it after her demands were met and thus did not make its existence known to the hostage negotiators. It wasn't her first bomb, but according to herself it is strong enough to take out the support beams. She had one assistant set aside in case the arrest happened, and he had been ordered to start the countdown for the bomb on a specific date should the initial hostage taking fail. Eden's soul is tethered to this bomb, and she has sworn to watch over it until it explodes and her work is done. Though calling the bomb squad in to handle it would eliminate the threat of the bomb itself, Eden herself would persist and would have a tether inaccessible to Seth. Though she is harmless by herself in her current state, she could easily degrade into a more violent soul if she wished.
Eden is headstrong and cunning. Though physically the weakest ghost Seth has to face, her high level of cognition allows her to take rain by surprise and manipulate situations in her favor. She cannot be reasoned with once she sets her mind on a goal. Violence is second nature to her, and she doesn't care about who gets hurt in order to achieve her goals. Somewhere along the way of her path as an environmentalist she got the idea stuck in her head that the world would be perfect without the influence of humans and set her sights on total human extinction, though she obviously never got far enough to make this happen. She seems to lack any sense of nuance when it comes to things she has strong opinions on. She is, after all, very young.
Seth is actively getting in Eden's way, which she obviously doesn't appreciate. Though she cannot do much by herself to stop rain, she has her methods.
Eden promised the Guide she'd come with him after her work was done, and she doesn't appreciate the fact he's circumventing this through Seth. In her eyes he broke her trust, and she actively tries to harm him. Since he's in the realm of the dead rather than the world of the living she can actually do this. The Guide is unused to actually being in danger and thus doesn't treat her with the proper gravity.
Since Lord Byagoona is actively helping Seth, Eden holds it in disdain. She cannot actively hurt it, but she wages psychological war with it every time Seth brings Lord Byagoona with rain.
Though Eden doesn't necessarily like Alphonse, per say, she sees him as useful since he tries to save Seth's life and thus postpones rains resets. She tries to bring Alphonse to Seth's location whenever she can, but without a psychopomp to help her she cannot appear on her own. She uses Casey to accomplish this goal instead.
Eden didn't know Casey before her death, and technically still doesn't know her due to the nature of Casey's haunting. However, Casey has proven to be easy to direct and manipulate, so Eden appreciates her as a strategic tool. She sics Casey directly on Seth whenever possible and uses Casey's poltergeist abilities to her advantage in other situations.
Other members of her ecoterrorist organization see Eden as a martyr and a noble figure. Due to this view of her, Eden perceives herself in this manner as well and sees the other members of the organization as 'her legacy.' Eden sees the bomb that her soul is tethered to as her final gift to them. She often shifts her fiery aura to resemble angel wings because of their view of her.
Souls that live in the realm of the dead can interact with the realm of the living in limited capacities. Their interactions can include lifting objects, breaking objects, and even powering electrical appliances via touch. Ghosts that died particularly traumatically are influenced by their deaths, such as Eden keeping the noose she was hung with and swinging as though hanging when she drifts around. This can provide additional interactions with the realm of the living, but it's usually just for flavor. Though humans cannot directly see them, some ghosts have very detectible presences. While poltergeists exist, most ghosts are simply peaceful spectators to life that haven't moved on to their next path yet.
Interactive personalities are the most mentally present and physically weakest ghost. They are entirely cognizant of their death and their surroundings and are capable of intelligent conversation. These ghosts typically have only one piece of unfinished business to attend to that can either be trusted to a living person before they move on or is short term enough to be supervised by themselves. With the help of a willing psychopomp they can briefly appear to humans as they were when they were alive to deliver parting messages so long as it isn't related to the nature of the afterlife. Examples include mothers visiting their children one last time to tuck them in or telling a loved one where an important item is hidden. After their business is finished they move on peacefully. These ghosts are not limited to humans, as even animals may have some final tasks to attend to or wish to check on their loved ones. For example, pets can appear to their owners to offer one final piece of comfort before moving on. These ghosts aren't attached enough to the world of the living to exert force on objects or leave marks behind when they phase through walls.
