Friends: Bon: Close Encounters Zine

Bon's school had her run a zine for an assignment, and I submitted these pieces to be paired with the short story she wrote about benevolent aliens visiting Earth as messengers. The short story described them as resembling sea angels, and it was a very wholesome read that made me happy when I was done with it. I had also intended to make an A Hat In Time drawing to submit, but didn't get around to it. Through the power of nepotism (being Bon's friend) my pictures got published on the first page, and I actually have a copy of the zine on my shelf. It looks like a filing cabinet folder with each alien species included having their own tab, and I love it. I based the person in the photos off of one of Bon's doodles, but I don't remember which. I had a lot of fun drawing this! I tried to capture the energy of two elementary school kids having a playdate. Peace and love on planet Earth. The human character's face is red from the cold, and I tried my best to texture the wool and the fur and whatnot. The images were made to be printed small scale, so looking at them up close looks a little weird. It looks good on paper, though.
